As an immigrant from Greece, growing up in his father’s store in the Mission, Vas gained a good foundation in customer service, small business and community.

After graduating from UC Berkeley with an architecture degree, Vas Kiniris co-founded a design/furniture store, Zinc Details, in the Tenderloin with a $2k investment. After 27 years, he moved on happily to focus on advocating for small business and promoting the economic vitality of the neighborhood merchant corridors. Vas is also the executive director of the Fillmore Merchants Association and the Director of Business Development at the San Francisco Council Of District Merchants Associations.
